Hi there, thanks so much for stopping by! I’m Taasia, and welcome to my blog, where I talk about books, art, bullet journaling, Hamilton and everything in between. In this debut post, I wanted to introduce myself, my blog and do the newbie book blogger tag.
I’m Taasia (obviously) and I’m a 15 y/o Malaysian Chinese ENFJ based in Singapore. I’ve loved literature for as long as I can remember, with a special love for YA. My favourite genre is contemporary. I’m a proud Ravenclaw. I have a deep appreciation for art, colours, bullet journaling, Friends, and beautiful things. Plus, I’m Hamiltrash and my two Hamilton-related dreams are to someday see Hamilton live and to be able to rap/sing every song flawlessly.
In this blog, you can expect reviews, recommendations, discussions, tags, and other bookish content, with the occasional life/planning content.
Sorry for the long preamble, on to the tag!
- Why did you start this blog?
Uhhh … it’s a long story??
Fine, long story short. Honestly, I started this blog because of my all-consuming love for reading and to share that with others. There’s not many people I can talk about books with. Eventually I realised I needed to get that love out, I guess? Hopefully, this is going to launch my love of reading and literature to the next level and to fangirl with others, and to make friends in the book community (ideally).
Also this (aka reason #3599 I’m doing this) –
Who hasn’t figured out I’m not Hamiltrash yet? Please stop, everyone in my life says. But I’m non-stop with my Hamilton love. HAHAHA I’m so funny.
- What are some fun and unique things you can bring to the bookish community?
Honestly, at this point, as a newbie, I don’t know. There are already so many good ideas already out there. But I’m low-key tinkering with the idea of some feature to create more love for the international bookish community. Hopefully something more concrete and creative will come soon!
- What are you most excited for about this new blog?
Just talking about bookish things. IRL, like I said earlier, there are very little people I can talk about books with – it’s really irritates and saddens me. It’ll be so great to scream ahem apologies chat about books and bookish things.
- Why do you love reading?
I’ve loved stories my whole life – when I was small and was being told a story, normally, I have to hear it until the end. I would beg my parents to tell my favourite stories over and over. Stories have always (somehow) continuously appealed to me throughout life. In addition, it provides a relaxing balance to the chaos of life, to take a break for the real world and to meet and connect with other people.
- What book or series got you into reading?
.. Er … um??
That is, again, a hard question, because I can’t remember much about my early reading life. I would just pick books up and read them, then move on, rinse (figuratively), repeat. My parents reading Roald Dahl books? But probably the Harry Potter series seriously got me into serious reading which created a snowball effect (because I started delving more into the reading world).
TL;DR Excluding childhood books, probably Harry Potter (I know that’s the generic answer but that’s what it was for me)
- What questions would you ask your favourite authors?
After I regain the minute level of chill and calm I have, I would probably ask them to sign my books and to keep getting ARCs of all their upcoming releases. But I’d probably have to think this over for like three weeks or something soooo …..
- What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
Two things – time management and commitment. Running a blog obviously requires a lot of commitment, and I really need to discipline myself to churn out consistent, punctual, original content, keep it running, and to manage my time to post. I’m also really concerned about how the blog will fare when I have reading slumps and exams.
Oh life …
- When did you start reading?
Since I was a small child.
Look, I can’t remember and I’m fully aware that I can’t really answer this. I’m sorry, but what can you do?
- Where do you read?
I read wherever I can, wherever is convenient – the MRT, the car, the library, lobbies, restaurants, around the house (i.e when I’m doing chores) etc. However, my preferred reading spots are my bed, really comfortable sofas or other really comfortable, soft places that I can just sit down and snuggle up.
- What kind of books do you read?
I mostly read Young Adult, specifically YA contemporary, fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction and mystery/thrillers. I also read middle grade, graphic novels, short stories and anthologies, and the rare poetry/verse novels, classics and adult books.
I tag anyone who wants to do this tag :))
So, what blogging advice do you have for me and newbies in general? Any blogger recommendations?
