Take My Money, Already Would You aka my 2019 Jan-June Anticipated Releases

2019 is going to take all my money with all the amazing releases, and I can’t wait.

Look, 2018 had some good stuff, but it was NOTHING (ya hear me? Nothing) on the amazing 2019 releases.

I lowkey feel like the publishing industry is targeting me and trying to completely empty my wallet by making all these AMAZING premises, the glorious covers and all my favourite authors coming at me Y E E T.

So since there are so many good ones, I’m going to be talking about my most anticipated 2019 releases from January to June. These are all books I’m genuinely excited about and that sound absolutely glorious. I’m going to do my best to keep it short, so your eyeballs will still be ok at the end of it.

I have a (mostly) completed Goodreads shelf of my 2019 releases so you can check that out if you want to add more stuff to your TBR, I guess? Because ya girl will probably not be able to sit down and link all these books to their Goodreads because she can’t.

I digress, let’s get back into this and scream about these releases sksksk.

JANUARY

In An Absent Dream (Wayward Children, #4) by Seanan McGuire

Releases: 8th January

This has already come out, and the only reason I’m not rushing to read this ASAP is that ya girl needs the audio. She is also complete trash for this series and their covers 😍😍😍

This sounds hella cool and like it’s going to be a really strong anthology. I’m so glad that African-American teens will have an anthology that they can relate too.

Famous in a Small Town by Emma Mills

Releases: 15th January

I’ve read all of Emma Mills’ novels except for First and Then, and they were all oh so good? (Especially Foolish Hearts.) We stan great friendships and that cover too oh my!

The Vanishing Stair (Truly Devious, #2) by Maureen Johnson

Releases: 22nd January

Even though I was super disappointed in truly devious, I want answers, so I’m going to try. The potential better turn up here, or I’m rioting.

The Dead Queens Club by Hannah Capin

Releases: 29th January

Mean Girls meet the Tudors? Yes, please? Whoever pitched this deserves an Oscar or the bookish equivalent of it.

King of Scars (Nikolai Duology, #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Releases: 29th January

You all are hyping me up so much, that I’m trudging through reading the Grisha trilogy to read this. (And also rereading the Six of Crows duology, because of course). Nikolai is the best character in the Grisha trilogy, and if Queen Leigh brings Alina and Mal I’m rioting. And this cover is as glorious and extra as Nikolai, and we love it.

Did you all see the Grishaverse Netflix news? I’m hollering.

FEBRUARY

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas

Releases: 5th February

If I hadn’t read the Hate U Give (now one of my all-time favorite novels), I wouldn’t have added this. But I need more Angie right now, so that’s how it works. I also need to read the 5-chapter excerpt that Epic Reads has blessed us all with. We love!

The Weight of Our Sky by Hanna Alkaf

Releases: 5th February

So I was incredibly lucky to get an e-ARC of this and I’m so incredibly grateful and therefore never shuts up about it I suppose? This is Malaysian YA (which never happens) and historical fiction about the Kuala Lumpur (hometown represent) riots in 1969. How are you not already sold?

Fame, Fate and the First Kiss by Kasie West

Releases: 5th February

I’ve really enjoyed all of Kasie’s newer releases, and I believe this follows a side character from Love, Life, and the list (which I, wait for it, loved?) if I’m not wrong? This sounds beyond cute omg.

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte

Releases: 26th February

That title? Everything. The premise sounds so Three Dark Crowns-esque and just fantastic. Sounds great, can’t wait.

We Set the Dark on Fire (We Set the Dark on Fire, #1) by Tehlor Kay Mejia

Releases: 5th February

After I read Mejia’s phenomenal short story (which ended up being my favourite) in the All Out anthology, I added all her upcoming work immediately because her writing is amazing. It’s also queer latinx fiction, which is really great!

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Releases: 5th March

This is the only March release on my TBR and I mean fair enough? I’m TJR trash and Evelyn Hugo trash, and this sounds a little like that but around a band? Even though the mixed reviews are coming in, I’m holding out hope.

APRIL

 

The Red Scrolls of Magic (The Eldest Curses, #1) by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu

Releases: 2nd April

Here’s the tea: I personally don’t think this is completely necessary since we already have the bane chronicles? (I’m like that one person lmao). But the extract that I got into my copy of Queen of Air and Darkness was so fun that I still want to read it anyway.

The Princess and the Fangirl (Once Upon A Con, #2) by Ashley Poston

Releases: 2nd April

I really liked Geekerella (and its cover ngl) when it came out 2 years ago. The cover for this one is also amazing, and it sounds like a fun time.

If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

Releases: 23rd April

Last year, a girl read Always Never Yours fell in love, never shut up about, and proceeded to add everything else by those two authors to her wishlist.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson 

Releases: 2nd May

Ok, this sounds cool, and we stan a good murder mystery. That title though.

Finale (Caraval, #3) by Stephanie Garber

Releases: 7th May

I loved Caraval and was quite disappointed by Legendary (IMO, it’s a case of middle book syndrome) BUT I’m curious enough to see how the trilogy wraps up.

Again, But Better by Christine Riccio

Releases: 7th May

This sounds so great, right up my alley and most importantly, HELLO LONDON. I sub to Christine’s channel and I’d really like to support her too!

Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo

Hong Kong YA? Hong Kong YA. HONG KONG YA. HONG KONG YA! I’m done now, I’m sorry. I liked I Believe In A Thing Called Love, The Way You Make Me Feel and Goo’s piece in Our Stories, Our Voices, so I just added this one even though I’m not a K-pop girl uwu

Cooking? Elizabeth Acevedo? That cover? Gimme. To no one’s surprise, I actually was denied an e-ARC of this one, but I’m definitely excitedly waiting. Oh well.

Aurora Rising (Aurora Cycle, #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Releases: 7th May (this is the last 7th May (aka publishing party day) release I promise.

This sounds kind of like the Breakfast Club in space, which sounds freaking awesome. (Don’t quote me here, I think there’s a main biracial character here?) Sounds cool, I’m in.

There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon

Yes to South Asian romcoms! At this point, I’ve read all of Menon’s published work so I’m partially just adding because to keep that streak, so 🤷‍♀️

I LOVE ASIAN ROM-COMS. Also, this is set in Japan, which I’ve never seen before ahhhh (Tea: Japan has superior stationery and food, sorry America) and I CAN’T WAIT.

I’ve mostly enjoyed these stories, and I need to read the last two ones. Also, it’s about Jem and it’s Cassie Clare, so 🤷
