We’re Reviving BuJo Posts: Plan with Me August ’19 (ft. My Personal BuJo + My Reading BuJo!!)

I love how my blog header says that I talk about books, bullet journaling and lifestyle things … and proceeds to not do bullet journal posts.

I was seriously planning on resuming Plan With Mes in July, but ultimately my blogging schedule just didn’t work out. So I guess we’re going to start them up in August?

Currently, I do two set-ups before the start of each month: my personal bujo set up and my reading bujo set up. I figured I’d show you both of them in this post. Let me know if I should continue this, separate them into two posts, or only include one set up.

I tried my best with this set up, and I think it turned out pretty okay? I hope you guys think that it turned out well and that you like it!Β Please validate me.

Cover Page(s)

This month’s theme took me forever to decide, but I eventually settled on a polaroid/photography theme (which linked to travelling, which was what I wanted and prominent part of my month). I don’t remember where I saw someone’s re-endition of this theme, but I’ll link it here as soon as I can find it! And I decided to put this cute photography quote by Ansel Adams. Normally, the cover page is on the right and the quote page is on the left, but I messed it up, so we’re going with it (even though it does bother me).

Monthly Log

This is probably my favourite spread in my monthly set up for this BuJo? I forgot that I wasn’t meant to include the days not in August, and drew the boxes before I realized that. I messed up the dates mid way through creating this spread, so I used AmandaRachLee’s trick of colouring the numbers with a black brush pen and writing the actual numbers with a white gel pen, and it turned out so well! On the right are two sections: one for my August goals and another for my monthly to-dos, which will serve as (kind of) like a mini brain dump. And I doodled little polaroids on the bottom, and I love them, because I think they look so cute!

Brain Dump

This spread is pretty self-explanatory, and one of my most used monthly spreads. I just dump anything important that I’m likely to forget here. I used my brown Tombow Dual Brush Pen for some quick calligraphy, and used the pale yellow Tombow Dual Brush Pen to draw a frame.

August ’19 Highlights + Favourites

This is a spread that I use religiously, both for archiving purposes and to helo me with my wrap up posts. On the left page, IΒ write down any new favourites (anything except music) and do it in a doodle-like style. I did a brown frame that imitated a picture frame/polaroid frame of sorts. And on the right, I just write any new favourite music I discovered. I got the playlist spread idea from the queen of BuJo-ing, AmandaRachLee (an absolute icon), and I love it. Also, I am obsessed with that pink and purple calligraphy. Truly.

First Weekly Spread

Again, ya girl is trying to do the most with incorporating the polaroids in! I tried to surround the numbers with polaroid frames (they look kind of weird) and I divided each column into three sections: events, to-dos and a rapid travel log (of some quick notes about the day), since I’m travelling to China this week! (RIP the VPN thing though 😭). And adorned with polaroids, because of course.

On to part 2, my reading/blogging journal set-up! I always use the same theme, and try to stick to 1 to (at most) 3 accent colours. This journal is solely for tracking my reading and blogging stuff, which helps me run through less journals in more time (does that make sense?). Let me know if you’re interested in seeing more of this journal (and/or the other one)!

  • Typo A5 Dot Pages Graduate Journal (mine says ‘All The Stuff I Will Not Do, A Memoir)
  • Sakura Pigma Microns 05 and 08 (0.45mm and 0.5mm)
  • Sakura Pigma Fine Brush Pen (Black)
  • Sakura Pigma Micron Gelly Roll 08 White
  • Tombow Dual Brush Pen Pastel Pens (shades 991 & 062)
  • Tombow Dual Brush Pens: shades 977 (main accent colour)

Cover Page + Monthly Log

The cover page is nearly identical to my other bullet journal, and I used the Pigna Microns & Tombow Dual Brush Pens to create it. On the right, is a monthly calendar solely dedicated to when I publish my blog posts. I have a digital calendar on Google Sheets, but I figured it would be nice to have a physical one, too.

Books I Read In August + What I Read In August

This is a side-by-side spread showing essentially the same thing: the booksΒ  read in August. The left is going to be me drawing books in a book stack and colouring them in when I finish, and the right is going to me writing the titles and colouring in the star ratings.

August TBR + My TBR/Reading Tracker

Of course, I have to include a TBR spread! To make me more motivated, I’m writing a list of said books I want to read them, and colour corresponding books on their appropriate bookshelf to give me some satisfaction when I finish it. Yes, I’m that person. And on the right, is a TBR/Reading Tracker. The idea is that I write a book’s name on the top of a column, and highlight the corresponding days in which I read a book. Each colour corresponds to a book, whether it be on my TBR or not, and I thought it’d be cool to try this out. I found this somewhere on YouTube or on a blog that I cannot, for the life of me remember, which kills me a little. I’ll link it if I find it though! And I adored the reading tracker with a quote … which didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.

Readalongs & Readathons + Brain Dump

Some self-explanatory spreads. Since I’m doing a bunch of readalongs (and readathons, if I can fit them in!) I thought it’d only be appropriate to make a separate spread for them for organization. Not to be narcissistic and all, but I’m really proud of & lowkey obsessed with my lettering of The Diviners. On the right, the ever-so-helpful brain dump. I’m very happy with the calligraphy here, honestly.

August Reading Notes

And finally, my last spread! I saw this idea from Kristin @ Super Space Chick on BookTube, and this is a spread I use religiously. I write down a book I read, rate the plot, characters, writing, cover (yes, I’m shallow), enjoyment and pacing to create an average rating as well as my thoughts on the books. This honestly saves me when I’m writing up my recent reads posts! I’m annoyed with my addition of the black fineliner to the calligraphy, but I’ll live with it.

That’s all for August! It is isn’t Picasso, I truly hope you liked these spreads. Honestly, not to be that person, but I think it turned out pretty well!

Do YOU bullet journal or want to? Bloggers, do you do monthly plan with me posts? If so, link me to them, because I need to see all your gorgeous spreads. What was your favourite (or least favourite) spread? Do you prefer a minimal or a more artsy style in bullet journaling?

  1. OMG I’m in love with your calligraphy damn I wish I was that good at calligraphy, I just sort of settle for calligraphy mushed with my own handwriting at this point haha. Also I’m gonna join you with being obsessed with the pink and purple calligraphy *swoons* so pretty, all your spreads are so freaking pretty Taasia! I think I may have to give the weekly spreads another try because honestly having a separate diary just isn’t working anymore for tracking my to do lists *sighs*
Also you should be so proud of both bujos like the calligraphy, is soooooo good I’m in awe! I’d love to see more posts on both of your journals, I’m planning on having a reading/blog journal next year and then having a personal journal as well to try and separate them so I can organise things better haha.

    1. ahhhh Clo! You’re truly too kind πŸ’“ I’ve really practiced my calligraphy & bujo until it was socially acceptable ahahah, and I’m sure your calligraphy is gorgeous too! I hope weeklies work for you, I’m veering a little bit away from them for my school daily planner, but they are just so useful! I hope separating both bujos help you, i really like both ways, honestly! Hope you’re having the most amazing day πŸ’•

    1. Thank you, Audrey! I hope your school bujo goes well! A reading bujo is so helpful and I do really love it so far. I’m doing a Harry Potter theme for September, so the Hufflepuff theme sounds so awesome! You’re too kind, and have an amazing day ❀

  2. I really liked seeing your BuJo Setup and would love to see more of that in the future! Your spreads are looking lovely 😍 I used to have a reading bullet journal, but it wasn’t working out for me, so I just keep a gratitude journal now πŸ™‚

  3. Your bujo is so cute, Taasia!! And I LOVE your calligraphy — you should 100% be proud of your lettering of The Diviners because it looks so so pretty. I lowkey want to start a bujo, but I know I would be terrible at keeping up with it (because I know I would spend SO much time on it) lmao. And hfsdhfhsd I could Not be bothered to draw the same polaroid cameras over and over again, so I admire you for doing that. ❀

    1. You are so sweet ily 😭❀ you should totally try out a bujo if you think you can do it, because I’ve found that it’s both a really great way to practice my art & to organize myself! But a planner totally works too πŸ™‚ I also spend too much on my bujo and it’s a problem 😦 the polaroid cameras were actually pretty simple to draw, but I drew them so much in August that I don’t miss them, tbh. Hope you’re having an amazing day πŸ’—

  4. Oh this is so lovely! I adore your reading spreads, that’s such a nice idea!! I never use my bujo over the summer, so I juts got back into the swing of it for the new school year and I missed it so much. :’)
